It is not everyday that I come across some alternative music that I feel the need to share on the EDM blog but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to share some new music from Chet Faker and Banks. I was not the biggest fan of Chet until I heard his updated version of 1998. I fell in love with Banks after she released her debut album "Goddess". The two of them came together to create this boppable version of 1998 and here's why you should listen to it ASAP:
- Chet Faker broke out in 2014 and ever since he has been on my radar 24/7. I can't get away from this guy! He is on every alternative radio station I listen to and being in San Francisco there are plenty of kids blasting his RnB laced jams at house parties. I didn't think much of him but this groovy duet with Banks is the tipping point for my support.
- Banks is a goddess. In every aspect of her being she kills it. The sad thing is that Banks is not well known even with all her success. She sounds like an angel but her voice has the power of an army. After listening to her verse on 1998, go check out "Goddess". You won't be disappointed!
- The track itself is a blend of electronica, RnB, and indie rock. I don't see myself in a club with this track but I can see myself in a lounge sipping on my whiskey as I sway to the music. The track has a great RnB and carefree attitude that makes you want to dance the night away. It may not be at a high tempo, but by god, does my neck hurt from all this bopping.
