Red Hot Chili Peppers is one of the best bands of all time. Hands down. Therefore, I don't like it when people try to interpret their music and remix classic songs such as Can't Stop. However, I think Jason Edward and Cut Up Kid have found a way to bring the energy of the legendary RHCP song into 2015.
- Can't Stop was released over a decade ago and it was one of the more modern RHCP songs that used the formula of fast rapping and progressive guitar melodies that was found in their older material. It would go on to top all the charts and even be named as one of the best modern rock tracks of the current century. This song is HUGE.
- Jason Edward and Cut Up Kid did a good job of holding onto the classic lyrics from Can't Stop and what I like most about their remix is that it uses the old guitar melodies and vocals to build up the track into a horn-filled trap anthem. Then, throughout the more modernized chorus of the remix, the vocals are sampled seamlessly.
- The best part about this remix is that it retains the original energy of the track while giving it a 2015 trap anthem aesthetic. If this is how the kids are going to get into RHCP, then so be it!
Listen to Jason Edward and Cut Up Kid's boppable remix of Can't Stop to decide for yourself if RHCP can really be remixed.
