It is melancholic today in San Francisco and that means it is the perfect time to play some OVO to compliment the mood. Today I bring a new boppable track from Majid Jordan featuring October's Very Own, Drake.
- On this blog I tend to share tracks that are not considered to be "mainstream" but that doesn't mean there isn't gold swimming through the Top 40 radio stations. It is just a lot harder to pan. Now, I wouldn't consider My Love to be totally mainstream but it does lean more towards the current section.
- What makes the track boppable for me is the familiar atmosphere projected by Majid and Drake. Majid Jordan is a Canadian duo consisting of Majid Al Maskati and Jordan Ullman. The duo is best known for producing Hold On We're Going Home which still holds as a song that I will play at my wedding. (Not first dance level but it definitely is high up on the playlist.) This is the Toronto producers' first major single and it is cool to see their boss backing it up with confidence.
- The song itself has an old school RnB vibe with a touch of atmosphere that makes it feel futuristic and melancholic. This is one that is played in the bedroom with dimmed lights and champagne. It can also be the one a guy sings alone when it is raining outside as he sips his third whiskey. A touch of depression with sexy undertones.
Peep the new OVO below and if ya dig be sure to like My Love on Soundcloud.
